I am a former Royalette (Calgary, AB) who recently moved back to Calgary and would love to attend a competition and trip down memory lane. I'll keep checking out this web site for dates. I'm thrilled to see that the sport is still very much alive and thriving!12/7/2001 - Mystery Person #2??
I, too, attended the 2001 CBTF Freestyle, Pairs and Team Trials. I was extremely impressed with the level of proficiency that was displayed by all of the performing athletes. Each is to be congratulated for doing the best job they were able during the competition. It is very difficult to keep your nerves in place while doing one's routine--especially compulsories. We shouldn't forget either that for some it was there first experience in this event. With respect to the last round of the Sr. Women's Freestyle, each of the top seven competitors should be commended for the fine performances they had. It was obvious that even the media was impressed. As far as Michelle and Hollie are concerned, they are both excellent athletes and will represent our country very well. Chelsea, too, will be a wonderful ambassador for Canada. I don't believe results or placements should be based on whose turn it is to win. Hollie, Michelle and Chelsea were judged on the performances they presented to the judging panel over a period of three days, where a placement decision was made. Congratulations to Michelle in receiving the gold medal! Congratulations also to Hollie on her silver medal and Chelsea on her bronze medal. Each of you should feel proud to be given the opportunity to show the "World" your stuff next month in Paris. All the very best of luck to everyone (that includes our Junior silver medalist, Sheila, as well.) Congratulations also to ABTA on assisting these fine athletes achieve their goals through the excellent programs that have been made available to them over the years!11/7/2001 - Mystery Person #1?

I think there should be more people who consider Baton Twirling a sport. All my friends at school say that a sport is something that you work hard at and often break a sweat over. For all those people who don't realize how hard Twirling can be, Come to a practice before Nationals then tell me again how twirling is not very hard, then you try to do some of the simple things we get to do in our rutines!20/03/2001 - Amy Irons email me! / Web Site

I think site is awesome. I started twirling five years ago. I know twirl for my high school marching band. It has been hard on me b/c i have never takin real lessons. I take from my sister. We don't twirling associations down here. We have band competitions but not twirling. The most awesome twirling thing i did this year was the fire baton and knives. I wish we had a twirling association b/c i don't get to twirl till next year cause marching band is over. Well good luck to majorettes!21/12/2000 - Kathy James
I LOVE twirling...When I was growing up I had the best twirling teacher EVER..Barbara Cardwell and we lived in Pasadena, TX. I can't believe I have never known about this site! You wouldn't believe the round about way I found this either! I was looking for an inspiring quote for my OTC twirling newsletter-I looked up sport-then team spirit and saw twirling...it linked to several baton sites all over the world and ABTA was the first on the list...what a great site! Check out my new website if you like it is www.playforlife.com/~batonschool/...I don't know how to link it up with anyone else's but I would love to! World's in Holland was amazing! Alberta athletes rocked! We had so much fun! Thanks to the athletes, parents, coaches and our judges Wendy and Ron for all doing their best on and off the competition floor....it was a terrific experience and we were proud to say "we are Canadian!"16/9/2000 - Nicole
